During the last days of the reunion the group stayed in Eindhoven, a town liberated by the 101st Airborne Division on September 18, 1944.
We visited the museum Liberating Wings at Best, the drop zones in Son but also non WWII related spots like the little village of Oirschot, about 6 miles North-West of Eindhoven

We also visited the farm of Wan van Overveld in Son. That farm is situated on the drop zones where September 17, 1944, between 13:00 en 13:30 hrs. 6669 Para's jumped at the start of Operation Market Garden

Still, every year, a lot of veterans visit the the van Overveld family, most of the time during September. Every visitor receives a warm welcome. To show them their gratitude, Easy Company gave them a commemoration plaque which reminds of that memorable day in September 1944.

For years Mr.van Overveld worked on his farm and found, years after the war, a parachute that still was in good shape though it was buried for years. He kept it careful in his house and made a tradition out of it to unfold it every time veterans come and visit his farm on the drop zones.

In short : People who still wish the veterans well.!

With the visit of Nuenen came an end to two wonderful weeks with the veterans of Easy Company.
It was a privilege to be part of this reunion.

Two weeks I will never forget.
